Swiss Residential Property

Thanks to its political and economic stability, security, tax advantages and high quality of life, Switzerland is considered a “safe haven” and therefore also attracts foreign investors.

Primary Residence:

A foreign national resident in Switzerland can purchase a home (detached house or owner-occupied residence) at their actual place of residence without a permit. It should be noted that the purchase of a property in Switzerland does not automatically confer the right to a residence permit. Different regulations apply to EU/EFTA citizens and non-EU/EFTA citizens with regard to obtaining a residence permit and authorisation to purchase residential property. While EU/EFTA citizens can easily obtain a residence permit thanks to the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons, non-EU/EFTA citizens must fulfil various criteria in order to obtain a residence permit.
